The “glass” for the washing machine door is made from an old plastic shuttle bobbin used in a sewing machine.

The 1970’s style cooker was made from mount board and covered in white sticky back plastic. Art shops sell mount board.

Model shops sell the plastic trim used to make the cupboard door handles.

The 1970’s style kitchen cupboards and appliances are all made from mount board and melamine samples obtained free from a local kitchen company.

The 1970's style kitchen shown opposite is good example of how you can create a realistic setting on a budget. All you need are a few materials and some time to spare. Add a few accessories to complete the overall look. Click on the photos for tips on how the kitchen was made.
